Sorry About the Wait...

Well, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving, everybody! (I speak as if there are a bunch of you who read this, Ha!) I flew home last Tuesday, got to Modesto and it was warm! I was able to wear shorts for almost a whole week! Wow, there have yet to be any periods in this post. Well, there I go, screwed that up. Anyway, I had a great week at home, stayed up late a lot, and saw a lot of friends. It was good to be home. Not that I don't like it here. I'm loving it up here.

The first night I was back we got snow. It actually stuck this time. It didn't keep me from wearing sandals, though. I look forward to more snow this month, it will be a lot of fun sledding and snowball fighting and all those other fun things you do in the snow.

Only two more weeks of school and one of finals, then I'll be back home. See you then!

Not cool...

So I feel like crap right now. I was supposed to lead Sunday School today, but I overslept and woke up at one. Not cool, I'm very pissed off at myself.

Had to make some changes...

Today I was confronted by my computer science prof. Pete Tucker. He asked me if I would be willing to drop his second semester class and add his Research Methods class, which is a sr. level course, on the condition that he waive the requirement for CS II. I looked at my schedule and it meant that I had to change my writing class to 8:00am three days a week and my physics lab to 8:00am one day a week. (Originally I had zero 8:00 classes) So after much deliberation, I decided to take the offer. Then as I walked back from the registrar's office, after changing my classes, I had a revelation. I could drop writing and fill the space where CS II was... with Linear Algebra! Woohoo, I wasn't expecting to take a math course, but this is great! So I have changed my classes way too many times today, but I will have a math class, a comp sci class, and a physics class. Life is good.

Tonight was guy's night at Whit Pres. It was some good quality time spent with those guys. We cooked burgers and went to a hockey game. The Chiefs lost 5-3; three goals were scored in the last three minutes, two for the opponent and one for the Chiefs. Not a wine, but a fun time nonetheless.

Tomorrow is the NCAA div III playoffs for our Men's Soccer team. I wish them luck. It should be a good game, we're playing someone from Ohio.

Y'all have a great weekend...looking forward to Thanksgiving.

White stuff...

Woke up and there was snow outside this morning, pretty cool, huh? Not enough to stay on the ground yet, but it's definitely coming. I'm looking forward to this.

Today was a pretty good day for me, I got my Core test back from a couple of weeks ago and it was an 86, and then Beebe bumped it to an 87! I was actually expecting closer to 76, so that made me happy.

Well, I need to get back to reading Miracles, and studying for my Calculus test tomorrow.

Zero...

Countdown: 0 - regarding Calvin Crest staff, I think that this year I'll apply for Events, Squire, A/V, and Accommo in some order, I guess I'll figure that out sooner or later.

Icy steps...

So today I walk out of CORE lecture, and I started sliding. I barely caught myself on the rail, but that's the first time I've ever slipped on ice while at school. It was pretty crazy, because you totally think something is there, and then it's something else. A statement I can apply to my life way too often.

I get to register for classes on Wednesday morning. I'm going to fill up my load again, but this time I only get to take two classes in my major, and three general ed. No fun. I wish five were in my major. For Jan term I'm taking 'Emergency Response' and 'Elementary Probability and Statistics', so that makes my schedule like so: M-F 9-12, 1-4. Fun times!

Countdown to CC app: 1 day. I'm really excited for this, I don't know why, well I do, but I don't. Hmm, I guess it's good knowing that the application is there if I want to fill it out, and I get to see exactly what questions are on it. But as a friend put it, I may not even fill it out until Christmas break, right before the deadline. Chances are I'll choose the application over an essay or reading and finish it rather quickly, but either way, it'll be out tomorrow. I guess one reason I'm excited for it is because I'm really looking forward to this summer, I don't know how God wants to use me, but I'm definitely ready to be bent and broken again.

Sleep deprivation...

I know it's my own fault that I'm not getting sleep. I've had about 7 hours this weekend, and plan on going to bed soon. I've realized that sleep is a very precious privilege. And a valuable tool.

Yesterday evening our volleyball team lost in the playoffs, ending their season, so now all the focus is on the soccer team. I didn't go to the game, but I hear the matches were all close.

Last night I watched a couple of movies with friends: Ten Things I Hate About You followed by Boondock Saints. I had seen both movies before, but still enjoyed them. Two very different movies, with very different messages.

I enjoyed church this morning, Pastor Steve preached about living two lives, social and religious, and it really made me think about how I do that. Even when my church is on my college campus, I still live a different lifestyle when I am with different sets of friends. That's not how I want to be, I want to be honest to all of them, not put on a mask for one group then switch masks when I see the others coming. Why is it so hard for me to just be honest about myself?

Calvin Crest Apps: 2 days. .:dun dun dun:. (as Kendra put it), I was praying about it and talking to friends who know me well, and pondering it some more, and I really think that the reasons I didn't want to be a Squire at the end of last summer were illegitimate and selfish. When I think about what God has gifted me with and how that can be used for the benefit of the camp, I think that Sherwood Squire should be on my application. Right now, I don't know where on the application it will be, but I will not tell Tony that I do not want to be one because I would very much enjoy it, and grow through it, and it is something that I want to do. Just maybe not my first choice, we'll see.

West Regional Champs...

What a soccer game! Today I went to watch the Men's Soccer team for only the second time this year, unfortunately. Whitworth was scoring in a hurry: 3-0 at the half. Final score was 4-0, including a sweet shot in the upper left corner by my computer science partner. Amazing game.

Last night wasn't too shabby either. U.S.E. did not fail to impress me. Noah (my friend's brother) and his band were incredible all night. It was a super long set, which made it all the better. It was a tad warm in that hall at Whitman, and we were all very sweaty, but it was very much worth it. Thanks to those of you who introduced me to U.S.E. just a few weeks ago.

Countdown to CC Staff 2006 Apps: 3 days

U.S.E...

So tonight I'm going to a United State of Electronica concert in Walla Walla. Spending the night there and coming back tomorrow morning. This should be really fun, one of my friends is the keyboarder's brother, so we get to meet the band.

Today, the Bill Robinson came and talked to my business class about leadership, that man is amazing. I really admire what he has done for this school and the community.

Whitworth(#5 Nat'l) hosts Redlands on Sat. @ 1pm. I'm looking forward to that game. Soccer, that is. It's really nice having a good soccer team to go watch.

Catch y'all later!

Well, here it is...

So, people have been pressuring me into blogging again, and I thought that using the Google-oriented blogger was the best idea. So here am I on Blogger.

Midway through Fall of Freshman year, life's going well. I'm keeping up in all my classes, but CORE kind of just sucks. The classes in my major aren't too hard because they are still introduction classes.

I learned this week that my family has replaced me. They got a dog, his name is Val, and apparently my female dog doesn't like him much. I don't get to meet him until Thanksgiving, sad.

Today, I got an ethernet hub in the mail so that I can have both of my computers online at the same time in my room. It's a great tool to have, and it makes me very happy.

I look forward to seeing you guys on here,
